Young Women's Breast Cancer Survivorship Symposium

  • Myra Mahon Patient Resource Center at the Weill Greenberg Center

I'm thrilled to take part in my survivor soul sister Jennifer Finkelstein's 5 Under 40 event on Saturday, November 5th. 5 Under 40 is dedicated to providing medical, wellness, and beauty services to women under the age of 40 who have tested positive for a BRCA gene mutation or have been diagnosed with breast cancer, focusing on empowering women and improving the quality of women's lives in the face of breast cancer.

Along with a group of physicians from Cornell-Weill, I'll be leading the first-ever Young Women's Breast Cancer Survivorship Symposium. I'll also be reading from Cancer Vixen and Ann Tenna.

Funny Ladies: Four New Yorker Cartoonists

  • Museum of the City of New York

Despite the fact that cartoons have long been used to question societal norms and shake up the status quo, cartooning itself has remained a traditionally male-dominated profession. It has only been relatively recently that a growing cadre of women cartoonists have made their mark on the field, offering unique perspectives on key social issues through their work. Join Liza Donnelly, Liana Finck, Marisa Acocella Marchetto, and Barbara Smaller, four renowned New Yorker cartoonists, for a conversation about their views on the business today, the creative process, and the origins of their distinct brands of humor.

Pink Aid's 2nd Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show

  • Mitchells | Marshs

When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she needs a lot more than medical help.  She needs rides to and from treatments, babysitting, grocery delivery, medical navigation, wigs, recovery garments and so much more. Pink Aid funds the efforts of organizations that provide compassionate services as well as free mammograms and help with expenses of local women in need, whom are far too many in number. Pink Aid grants help women receive these services, as well as to get free mammograms and aid with expenses.  Some of the programs we support are established hospital foundations and national non-profits, while others are smaller grass roots organizations.  Large or small, they share our goal to help local women survive breast cancer with compassion. Join Marisa at the 2nd Annual Pink Chair fundraiser at Mitchells-Marshs of Huntington...an exciting and emotional event, filled with many of our communities' most vibrant and compassionate women.
